The Senior Dog
Keep movement and memory alive!
Our beloved four-legged family member has entered the golden age. Your dog may still be lively, alert and happy to play. However, you have started to notice that the play has become a little shorter, your dog is taking that little extra time to jump into the car, or down off the couch when you call.
Maybe you have the honor of living with a really old senior dog, where communication is so evolved between you that sometimes you barely use words, you only need to look at one another to know which round you’ll be walking today. The walks are much shorter and slower, your dog’s hearing and/or vision has become somewhat impaired, and you’ve also noticed that your old friend has started to seek closeness, a little bit in the same way as when it was a puppy.
This course is specially designed for the senior dog, we will work with mobility – to maintain it, or, for some dogs, increase mobility, mental stimulation will also be a big part of the course, while we have fun together with our dear four-legged seniors. All these exercises will contribute to the senior dog feeling more confident in his/her golden age!
During the course you will receive advice on how we can continue to make life stimulating, safe both mentally and physically, and continue to have fun with the day-to-day life together with our loved senior dog.
Course content
- Movement exercises in the form of, among others, Free Work
- Mental stimulation exercises
- Playing the senior way
- Evidence and observation-based advice and conversations for a good life with your senior dog.
Here is what you need to bring
- Treats, both hard and soft.
- Toy
- Something comfortable to lie on
- Harness or collar (No choke)
- Leash that is not flexible.
